* Re “Minnesota Takes Unlikely Road to Ventura,” Nov. 5:
A few years ago I had the privilege of working with Jesse “The Body” Ventura. I was part of the production crew on a television show that was taping at Universal Studios and Jesse was one of the commentators. During the lunch breaks you would always see Jesse come over and mix with the crew, whether it was to eat lunch or just chat during the downtime. Mind you, he was one of the stars of the show but he always acted like one of the guys.
I remember talking to him a few times about politics. He expressed a genuine concern about what was going on in this country. This was way before the ’92 election, when few people outside of Arkansas had heard of Bill Clinton either. So when I saw the election night results and Ventura being named the new governor of Minnesota I wasn’t surprised. The one thing I remember about Ventura was that everyone liked him. I guess that includes a majority in Minnesota.

* I predict that Ventura, newly elected governor of Minnesota, will be president of the United States. Look what happened to Ronald “The Actor” Reagan, first governor of California, then president of the United States. History has a way of repeating itself.

* Ventura’s election as governor of Minnesota sent a loud and clear message. Were you listening, Republicrats?

* What was that in Minnesota? Sarcasm? I can identify with feelings of anger and powerlessness, but I take my right to vote seriously.
