“I became attracted to the blue glow that comes out of houses when you drive down the road,” says Maxi Cohen, a filmmaker who lives in Venice. She first started nocturnally photographing the light emitted by a turned-on television 20 years ago, when she was meandering through New York’s Catskill Mountains. Sixteen of Cohen’s “TV Nightscapes” prints are on display through Dec. 19 at the SandroniRey Gallery in Venice. “Sometimes I walk around at night with my camera,” she admits. “But I never look for an image. They find me.” Cohen, whose documentary “South Central Los Angeles: Inside Voices” ran on Showtime last year, says that whether it’s Soho or South-Central, “People watch TV the same everywhere. It’s the glue that keeps us apart.”
