LAPD, Sheriff’s Deputies to Box in Charity Event

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles police officers and sheriff’s deputies will duke it out at the Grand Olympic Auditorium on Friday night in the fifth “Fight for Life” boxing event, benefiting the pediatrics unit of the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte.
The Fight for Life has raised $100,000 in the last five years and organizers hope to raise $15,000 more this year.
Nine bouts are scheduled, including one women’s match, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $5 to $50 and are available through Ticketmaster or the Grand Olympic Auditorium box office, 1801 S. Grand Ave. Information: (213) 749-5171.
