NationsBanc Montgomery Securities, the San Francisco-based investment banking arm of BankAmerica Corp., has assembled a new team to run its equities business and hopes to double the unit’s revenue in the next three years. The changes follow the recent resignation of the head of trading, Robert Kahan, and head of equity sales trading, Jim McMahon. NationsBanc Montgomery is rebuilding its executive ranks under new Chief Executive Lewis Coleman after the departure of founder Thomas Weisel and other senior executives in the last two months. Kent Logan, head of sales, will take over the equities business. The new team reporting to him will be Craig Johnson, director of sales; Scott Kovalik, director of trading; Bill Hileman, director of the private client department; and Thomas Thornhill, director of research. Guy Lampard was named director of marketing and, John Skeen, director of research since 1991, will become director of portfolio strategy and will be the firm’s chief equity strategist. NationsBank Corp. bought the investment bank, formerly Montgomery Securities, for $1.2 billion last year. It became a unit of BankAmerica after NationsBank and BankAmerica merged. Shares of Charlotte, N.C.-based B of A fell 38 cents to close at $64.81 on the NYSE.
