Commemorative Marker Hails Revitalization Effort

Los Angeles city officials on Monday unveiled a community marker at a busy intersection in the Jefferson Park district of South Los Angeles.
The Jefferson Park Gateway Monument was built as a sign of the revitalization occurring in that area, said Councilman Nate Holden, who represents the area.
Erected on the corner of Jefferson and Crenshaw boulevards, Gateway Monument was built by a local African American construction company and a local landscaping business, Holden said.
The work was funded by donations from Union Bank and Ralphs Grocery Store. Holden said the project symbolized a new infusion of investment in local business.
