Dons’ Sneddon Gets 600th Baseball Victory

Santa Ana College baseball Coach Don Sneddon recorded his 600th victory Tuesday in the Dons’ 5-3 Orange Empire Conference win over host Fullerton.
Sneddon has a career record of 600-201-2.
Santa Ana pitcher D.J. Houlton (2-1) struck out nine and gave up three runs in 7 1/3 innings for the Dons (23-13, 9-8), who moved two games behind first-place Cypress.
In other Orange Empire Conference baseball:
Saddleback 2, Cypress 1--Chris Ridenour hit his 10th home run of the season in the top of the seventh for Saddleback (25-11, 10-7), which moved into a three-way tie for second with Orange Coast and Riverside. Cypress is 24-11-1, 11-6.
Orange Coast 6, Riverside 2--Host Orange Coast (23-14, 10-7) scored three times in the sixth to take the lead. Ryan Clark’s double drove in the go-ahead run. It was the fifth consecutive victory and 11th in 12 games for Orange Coast.
Riverside (22-12, 10-7) scored twice in the top of the sixth to tie the score, 2-2. Pat Gonzalez doubled and scored on Wayne Stone’s double.
Jason Reuss hit his 12th home run of the year for the Pirates.
In the Southern California men’s volleyball playoffs:
Santa Barbara 3, Orange Coast 2--David Moser had 20 kills for host Orange Coast (17-4). Santa Barbara won 17-16, 12-15, 15-10, 13-15, 15-12. Santa Barbara advances to the state semifinals against Los Angeles Pierce Friday at Long Beach. Golden West will play Grossmont in the other semifinal.
