Eernisse Haunts Old Team, Pacing Glendale Past Valley

Steve Eernisse played basketball for Valley College last season. On Wednesday, he played a key role as Glendale defeated his old team, 79-72, in a Western State Conference Southern Division game.

Eernisse came off the bench to score 10 of his 15 points in the first half. Tony Hoggatts scored 18 and Chris Moreland had 17 for Glendale (19-7, 3-2).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Canyons 58, West L.A. 46--Tasha Allen scored 16 points and Canyons (16-7, 4-2) pulled to within a game of first-place West L.A. with a WSC Southern Division victory at Canyons.

West L.A. fell to 18-5, 5-1.

Moorpark 68, Cuesta 59--Chris Mossesso scored 21 points and Alofa Tuimoloau had 19 and eight assists for host Moorpark (15-11, 3-2) in a Western State Conference Northern Division game.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UCLA def. CS Northridge 15-3, 15-9, 15-4--The host Bruins (5-2, 3-1 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play) won their 16th consecutive match over the Matadors (1-3, 1-2).
