SUN VALLEY — Police detectives identified a Sun Valley man shot to death Sunday in a weekend attack that also left three men wounded.
Efran Gonzales, 23, died Sunday at Pacifica of the Valley Hospital an hour after the 4:30 p.m. drive-by shooting in the 7600 block of Vineland Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Det. Mike Coffey of the North Hollywood Division.
A 58-year-old Panorama City man remained hospitalized after being hit in the abdomen. Two Sun Valley men--ages 23 and 18--were treated for leg and back wounds.
Coffey said the four men were walking north toward Laurel Street when the trouble began. A brown van pulled alongside the group and someone in the van began firing.
After they were wounded, the victims ran west of Vineland Avenue toward Laurel Street, Coffey said. The shooting was under investigation as a gang-related crime, but authorities said the 58-year-old man had no gang affiliation.
