Architect Pierre Koenig to Sign Monograph

Architect Pierre Koenig left his signature on the ‘50s in clean lines and glass and steel structures. Heralding the era’s revival, Time magazine noted that “the current renaissance of mid-century Modernism is particularly sweet for Koenig, 73, who has lived long enough to become cool twice.”

But if you don’t have, say, $2 million lying around to get your hands on his famous Case Study House No. 22, you can still get his signature. Koenig appears at Form Zero Architectural Books & Gallery on Friday to sign the long-awaited monograph “Pierre Koenig.”

Authors James Steele and David Jenkins survey four decades of the Los Angeles resident’s work, including his commissions for Arts & Architecture magazine’s radical Case Study House program. The monograph includes the architect’s original sketches, plans, sections and renderings with photographs by such acclaimed photographers as Julius Schulman.

The reception and book signing is from 7 to 9 p.m. at 2433 Main St. in Santa Monica. The book costs $45, but the store will discount the price 10% during the reception.
