Chapman University announced that its law school--established in 1995--has begun moving into new quarters.
The new location--previously that of the Orange Unified School District headquarters--is at 370 N. Glassell St., directly across from Chapman’s main campus. The new facility boasts 132,000 square feet--more than three times the size of the law school’s temporary quarters in Anaheim.
“It has plenty of space,” Chapman spokeswoman Ruth Wardwell said. “It is a state-of-the-art facility and is fully wired for all possible technological needs.”
Chapman bought the property in 1995; it had been vacated three years earlier by the school district. Wardwell said Chapman officials were able to preserve the building’s arched brick entryway--part of its original 4th century Italian basilica design.
“We asked ourselves, ‘How could we preserve what is historic and still move forward?’ ” she said. The new facility is expected to help increase student enrollment.
