A 22-year-old man was killed early Sunday when the car he was driving slammed into two trees in a median on Fairview Street in Santa Ana, police said.
Osvaldo Navarro of Santa Ana died at the scene, said police Lt. Bob Chavez.
Police said Navarro was driving north on Fairview in the 1400 block when he apparently lost control of his car at 2:30 a.m. The car jumped into the median and hit two trees. The car came to a stop in the lane next to the median.
When paramedics arrived, Navarro was sprawled on the pavement and several people were performing CPR on him, said Santa Ana Fire Battalion Chief Bill Zastrow. He did not know if Navarro was thrown out of the car or if witnesses pulled him out.
