A sampling of stock ratings issued Tuesday by Wall Street analysts:
* Bell Atlantic (ticker: BEL; close at $56.94, up $1.50) was rated “strong buy” in new coverage by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, with a 12-month target of $78.
* Columbia Energy Group (CG; $62.94, down 25 cents) was downgraded to “hold” from “accumulate” by Jefferies & Co.
* Gilat Satellite Networks (GILTF; $52, down $1) was rated new “strong buy” by CE Unterberg Towbin, with a six-month target of $72.50.
* Lincare Holdings (LNCR; $26.25, up 13 cents) was raised to “buy” from “hold” by Warburg Dillon Read, with a 12-month target of $42.
* Voicestream Wireless (VSTR; $30.06, up 69 cents) was rated “recommend list” in new coverage by Goldman Sachs.
