Suspect Is Arraigned in Fatal Hostage Siege

A former nurse arrested after a deadly 46-hour hostage standoff at Norristown State Hospital was arraigned, appearing disoriented and badly injured. Dennis Czajkowski, 40, is accused of bursting into Pennsylvania’s largest mental hospital, firing several shots and taking captive two nursing supervisors who had played a role in his dismissal in April, state police said. When police broke a window to a room where Czajkowski was holed up, he allegedly opened fire, killing one woman and injuring the other.
