The City Council recently approved budget changes, dedicating an additional $120,000 to the fight against a proposed commercial airport at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. The city will also spend an additional $550,000 to hire seven police officers to patrol the recently annexed Foothill Ranch commercial area. The city will cover the expenses, in part, with an additional $1.2 million in new revenue that will be brought in this year, including more than $783,000 generated by new sales taxes and permit fees in Foothill Ranch. Information: (949) 461-3400.
