A Showcase for Modern Love

The Los Angeles Modernism Show, a celebration of design that spans the 20th century, returns to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium from Friday through Sunday. The 12th annual show traces cultural history through the innovative creations of the world’s furniture, fashion and graphic designers.
Shoppers will find a wide range of items, from posters and clothing to furniture. The show includes American Arts & Crafts period pottery and furniture, Italian glass, Leopold and Gustav Stickley furniture, Art Deco appliances, vintage photographs, clothing and fine watches.
Attendees at Friday’s opening-night preview (no reservation necessary) will get an early chance to shop and benefit the Los Angeles Conservancy.
“It’s a good match,” said Linda Dishman, director of the conservancy. “We focus on architecture of the recent past, and the Modernism Show has helped to foster a whole new group of collectors interested in that period.”
