Low Ridership Ends Shuttle Bus Line for Sherman Oaks

Citing low ridership, the Los Angeles City Council agreed Monday to end funding for the DASH shuttle bus service in Sherman Oaks on July 1.

However, City Councilman Mike Feuer said he has been assured by Mayor Richard Riordan that funding will be reconsidered in a year when the Sherman Oaks Galleria, a major stop on the DASH line, completes a renovation project and reopens.

“We agreed with the mayor’s office to open up the DASH conversation again after the Galleria is reopened, when it is most likely to be successful,” Feuer said.

The Sherman Oaks DASH was being used by fewer than nine passengers each hour, compared to the other DASH lines, which average more than 30 passengers hourly.
