WasteWatch Awards Go to 3 Ventura Businesses

Three businesses have been selected by the city of Ventura to receive WasteWatch Awards for their contributions to the community’s waste reduction and recycling program.
The awards are given each year to businesses that support the city’s campaign to recycle and cut the city’s waste in half by next year.
This year’s award recipients are: Du Pont Flooring Systems, which recycles more than 170 tons of carpet annually, saving enough electricity to power 55 Ventura homes for a year; Jiffy Lube, which last year recycled 78,000 gallons of oil, 50 55-gallon drums filled with oil filters and 3,600 gallons of antifreeze; and K1C2 Crafts Co., which each year diverts 300 pounds of yarn, 600 spools and 4,000 used stamps out of its trash cans for use by local groups in crafts projects.
