Mendoza, Spagnola Lead Liberty Christian to Win

Aaron Mendoza and Mike Spagnola each scored two touchdowns to lead Liberty Christian to a 36-7 Express League victory over host La Verne Lutheran in an eight-man football game on Friday.
Mendoza caught four passes for 110 yards and Spagnola carried the ball 11 times for 106 yards to lead the Minutemen (5-4, 3-3 in league). Nick Harbert completed eight of 17 pass attempts for 150 yards and three touchdowns for Liberty Christian.
Doug Mellon (18 carries, 64 yards) scored the only touchdown for La Verne Christian (1-8, 0-6) on a 42-yard run in the first quarter that brought the Trojans within 8-7, but Liberty Christian cruised to a 28-7 lead by halftime.
In a nonleague game:
Hesperia Christian 56, Southern California Christian 6--The Flames fumbled the ball five times and ended their season at 0-6.
