Missing Man’s Wife Offers Reward

In the 15 months since her husband disappeared, Uraiwain Dimento has used private detectives, the Internet, fliers and police to try to find out if he is alive.
Frustrated at the lack of any clue about Joseph Dimento, 61, she now has put up a $100,000 reward for information leading to his safe return.
The 60-year-old Seal Beach woman said he simply vanished the day they returned home from a hiking trip to Joshua Hills Park near Palmdale in June last year.
Since then, police and private detectives have been unable to find him.
Uraiwain Dimento said she and her husband of 24 years had a disagreement on the way home. So when he failed to return, she didn’t call police immediately, figuring he was staying with friends as a response to their argument. But after a week, she called police.
In their yearlong investigation, police haven’t been able to find any trace of the retired computer programmer. The disappearance is unusual because Dimento has no history of mental illness or previous absences, Hardin said.
Uraiwain Dimento handed out fliers with pictures of her missing husband and hired two private investigators, but neither effort yielded any results.
