It’s true that Bob McNair was prepared to spend only $500 million for Houston’s NFL team. What The Times failed to mention was that Paul Tagliabue later asked McNair what it was worth to him to keep T.J. Simers in Los Angeles.

Ed Roski was quoted in the Oct. 6 issue when speaking about the Great Western Forum: “It took . . . two to 2 1/2 hours to exit the facility.”
He must have arrived at the Laker game six minutes after tipoff, and left just before it ended. Perhaps he did the same during NFL negotiations, coming late and leaving early.
