Newbury Park 27, Burroughs 14--Marcus Crawford, a transfer from Thousand Oaks, rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns in 26 carries to lead the Panthers at Burroughs.
Crawford, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior, scored his third touchdown on a two-yard run with 1:40 left in the third quarter to give Newbury Park a 27-7 lead. He scored on runs of three and four yards in the first half.
Quarterback Chris Lombardo, a senior transfer from St. Bonaventure, overcame a slow start to complete 10 of 22 passes for 218 yards and a 48-yard touchdown to Cameron Merrill for the Panthers. Lombardo had three passes intercepted.
Burroughs tied the score, 7-7, midway through the first quarter on Keith Jarbo’s 22-yard touchdown reception from Joe Kroells.
