UCI Reaches Final in Big West Women’s Tennis

For the first time in school history, UC Irvine will contend for the Big West Conference women’s tennis title after defeating Boise State, 5-1, in the semifinals Friday at the Ojai Valley Racquet Club.
The Anteaters (18-6), ranked 49th nationally, have never placed higher than third in the conference tournament. Jonni Seymour won, 6-3, 6-2, in singles, and Darian Chappell won, 6-0, 6-3, for top-seeded UCI. In doubles, Chappell and Seymour partnered to win, 9-8.
Irvine will play seventh-seeded Pacific in today’s championship match at 9 a.m. at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club.
