* Re “Sheriff’s Officials Seek Public’s Help in Locating 4 Fugitives,” April 24.
Several times each month, Times readers in Ventura County are given the opportunity to assist the Sheriff’s Department in locating fugitives that have been misplaced. Most of these fugitives are living in some drug-related hell of their own making, but with our assistance the deputies may re-incarcerate them.
At that point the taxpayers may once again feed and clothe them. On April 23, The Times related that serious crimes in Ventura County are at a 30-year low. Because the majority of crimes alluded to in the (pathetic) fugitive roundup item are victimless, we may assume that there is nothing generally serious about the fugitives’ crimes. So why bother with the fugitive column?
