A Ventura woman was arrested Friday after her 12-year-old daughter got into a car accident while driving to the store at her mother’s request, police said.
The girl accidentally drove through the glass front doors of a closed pizza shop in a shopping center in the 6300 block of Bristol Road, police said.
The crash occurred about 4:30 p.m., said Ventura Police Sgt. Randy Janes. The girl suffered minor injuries to her arm and abdomen. Her passenger, another 12-year-old girl, was uninjured.
The driver told officers her mother asked her to go shopping and that she crashed the car while trying to park, Janes said.
The mother confirmed that account to officers, police said, and was cited for child endangerment. She was released after promising to appear in court.
