CHICAGO — UAL Corp.’s United Airlines unit canceled at least 144 flights over the weekend because of contract negotiations with its pilots and some weather, maintenance and other issues.
According to United’s Web site, 93 flights were canceled due to maintenance issues Saturday and Sunday, while 45 cancellations were crew-related.
United has canceled thousands of flights since mid-April because of crew shortages, bad weather and other problems.
The cancellations are in addition to a decision to cut 3% of its 2,400 daily flights. Some pilots have refused to fly overtime as contract talks continued longer than expected.
