A Thousand Oaks woman who died Friday night after losing control of her car on the Ventura Freeway was identified by authorities Saturday as 35-year-old Marianna Ballard.
Ballard died from head injuries at a local hospital following the 7:45 p.m. crash on the northbound freeway near Camarillo Springs Road, authorities said.
Ballard was driving her 1990 Hyundai when she slammed into the center divider and the vehicle flipped several times. She was not wearing a seat belt. Authorities were investigating if speed was a factor.
In the car with Ballard were her 14-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter, and a family friend from Malibu, who was not identified.
They suffered moderate injuries and were treated at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.
