A Ventura resident and a family foundation have donated $100,000 to the San Buenaventura Mission toward the construction of an elementary school and an auditorium.
The money from Virginia Faria Baptiste and the Faria Family Foundation will be used for the new school and a 750-seat multipurpose auditorium scheduled to be built this year.
Baptiste and her family have been active in all aspects of the mission for several decades.
“Because of this long association with the mission, it is natural that the Faria Family Foundation and Aunt Virginia would contribute to this important construction project,” said Jeanine Faria Walker, president of the foundation.
The total cost of the projects is about $7 million, mission officials said. About two-thirds of the money has been raised to date.
