Times Press Operators File NLRB Petition
Press operators at the Los Angeles Times and its parent company, Times Mirror Co., have filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board calling for a union representation election. An NLRB hearing was set for Monday to set a date for the election, which would involve about 460 workers at several plants in the Los Angeles area. The Graphic Communications International Union is seeking to represent the workers. A similar petition was filed several years ago but withdrawn on the eve of the election.
