1-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Shot by BB Gun

A 1-year-old Ojai girl who was shot by a BB gun and spent three days on a respirator died Monday night, authorities said.
Nancy Gomez was playing in the backyard of her home in the 200 block of McNell Road about 11 a.m. Saturday when she was struck in the head by a pellet, authorities said.
Investigators believe one of two boys playing in the yard with the girl accidentally fired the weapon.
The baby was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where she underwent surgery Saturday afternoon. She remained in a coma until her death late Monday night, said Craig Stevens, an investigator for the Ventura County coroner’s office.
