Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. said it won a $300-million French contract to build a waste-treatment plant. The contract was awarded by Syctom, an inter-city waste-treatment authority outside Paris. Pasadena-based Jacobs will begin studying designs this year, with completion expected by December 2004. Revenue from Jacobs’ European business increased to $441 million in 1999 from $411 million in 1998. U.S. sales last year rose to $2.4 billion from $1.7 billion in 1998. Jacobs Engineering said the plant, which includes an incinerator unit, will meet future European air-pollution regulations and won’t release waste water into the Seine River. Jacobs shares rose 31 cents to close at $35.06 on the NYSE.
