Trustees of the Irvine Unified School District voted unanimously Tuesday to hire Edward G. Zemla, an assistant superintendent for the Chino Valley Unified School District, as their new chief financial officer.
” I am delighted to add [Zemla] to the leadership team,” said trustee Jeanne Flint. “We are really anxious to move forward and have his expertise in the district.”
Zemla said he could start his new position as early as June 19.
The surprise announcement that Zemla will fill the new position ended a rift that had for weeks grown wider between board members over plans to restructure the district.
