3-Year-Old Hanged by Drapery Cord

A 3-year-old Santa Ana girl strangled Tuesday after accidentally hanging herself on a drapery cord.
Catherine Mary Cessna was pronounced dead at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital after paramedics were summoned to her home on the 2500 block of Sunflower Avenue about noon.
The girl apparently had climbed onto a bed to look out a window, then slipped with the cotton drapery cord looped around her neck, said Randy Black, a spokesman for the Santa Ana Fire Department.
