The City Council has voted to hire a consultant to assist with the transfer of the city’s cable franchise from Comcast Cablevision to Adelphia Communications.
Council members voted Tuesday to pay $10,000 to $15,000 to Communications Support Group Inc. for a franchise transfer to Adelphia, an East Coast company swapping territories with Comcast.
“These people have the technical knowledge to help us with our requests,” said Steve Pischel, the city’s director of community services.
Comcast has agreed to pay Placentia $8,000 to help pay for the cost of the consultant.
City officials want Adelphia to provide additional services, including more channels and coverage of local events.
