City leaders have invited residents from the newly annexed communities of Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills to apply for a seat on the Parks and Recreation Commission.
Commissioner Dan Mayer resigned in February, leaving a vacancy on the five-member panel.
This is the first chance for those residents to participate in their new city’s government. On Tuesday, the City Council annexed Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills after a final public hearing drew only a couple of opponents and no organized challenge.
The parks commission meets about twice a month to advise the City Council on recreation programs and on the acquisition, development and maintenance of parks. Commissioners receive a stipend of $50 per meeting.
Applications are available at City Hall at 23161 Lake Center Drive or on the city’s Web site at https://www.city-lakeforest.com.
