Israeli courts sentenced a Jewish settler to life in prison for killing an elderly Palestinian farmer and denied early release to a settler convicted of killing a handcuffed Palestinian. Gur Hamel, 35, was sentenced for killing Mohammed Zalout, 66, with blows to the head while the victim was kneeling in prayer. The killing took place in October 1998.
