Granada Hills 6, Birmingham 2--Eddie Degerman (5-4) scattered seven hits, struck out five and allowed one earned run, and the Highlanders clinched third place and put themselves in position for a playoff berth with a West Valley League victory at Granada Hills.
Scott Rapkin had a double and three RBIs, and Ryan Braun had two hits, including his eighth home run, and scored three runs for the Highlanders (15-11, 7-8), who tied Birmingham (18-11, 7-8) but beat the Patriots in two of three games.

Baseball--Jesus Rico’s third double of the game scored two runs in the sixth inning and gave Van Nuys High an 11-10 victory over San Fernando on Tuesday. The information was reported incorrectly Wednesday.
Cleveland 8, Taft 6--Nick Arroyo went three for three to lead the Cavaliers (12-14, 5-10) to a West Valley League victory at Taft.
Aric Haut and Jarod Sheets each had two hits for Taft (3-22, 0-15).
Kennedy 11, Reseda 3--Phil Avlas had three hits and four RBIs to help the Golden Cougars (19-11-1, 11-4) clinch third place in the Valley Mission League at Reseda (2-16, 0-15).
Van Nuys 11, San Fernando 10--Abel Pulido’s RBI single in the sixth gave the Wolves (8-20, 5-10) a victory over the Valley Mission League champion Tigers at San Fernando (17-11, 12-3).
Sylmar 8, Monroe 6--Hector Chavez hit a solo home run for the Spartans (18-7, 11-4) in a Valley Mission League victory at Monroe.
Rafael Arroyo hit a two-run home run for Monroe (10-17, 6-9).
