Loyola Beats Rialto; Will Face Edison Next

Rafael Rice rushed for 191 yards and three touchdowns and also caught a scoring pass from Matt Ware as L.A. Loyola knocked off Rialto, 35-16, in the first round of the Southern Section Division I playoffs at Pierce College.
The second-seeded Cubs (10-1) will meet Edison in a second-round game.
In Division III:
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 31, Lancaster 8--Top-seeded Notre Dame parlayed a stingy defense and the pass-catch combination of Phil Beckmann and Michael Luderer into a victory at Notre Dame.
Beckmann completed touchdown passes of 70 and 12 yards in the third quarter to Luderer, breaking open a close game and giving the Knights (10-0-1) a 24-0 lead.
Crescenta Valley 23, Lawndale Leuzinger 0--The Falcons (10-1) won their first playoff game since 1992 by shutting down the Olympians’ double wing-T offense, which entered the game averaging more than 300 yards rushing a game, at Glendale High.
In Division IV:
Westlake 63, Santa Barbara 7--Cory Miles threw four touchdown passes and completed all 13 of his passes for 233 yards, as the Warriors dominated at home.
Westlake (10-1), Marmonte League champion and ranked No. 1 in Division IV, scored touchdowns on its first nine possessions, including six in the first half.
In Division XI:
Santa Paula 33, Santa Barbara Bishop Diego 7--Xavier Ramirez rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns at Santa Paula for the Cardinals (9-1-1), who will meet Orange Lutheran in the second round.
Ramirez, who had 16 carries, scored on runs of four, 52 and 23 yards.
