* HOWARD (0-1) at CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE (0-0), 5--Northridge, picked to win the Big Sky Conference, gets a tune-up before facing UCLA Tuesday night at Pauley Pavilion. Center Brian Heinle and guard Markus Carr were all-conference selections last season for the Matadors, who have several key players back. Heinle averaged a team-high 14.6 points and 6.4 rebounds. Frankie Allen enters his first season as coach of Howard, 1-27 last season. Ali Abdullah and Ron Williamson each scored 14 points in a 71-47 loss Friday at UC Irvine.
