Mozart, Purcell Operas at Cal State Long Beach

Cal State Long Beach Opera presents a double bill of Mozart’s “The Impresario” and Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas,” Friday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. in University Theater on the Cal State campus.
Henri Venanzi conducts the student casts, the CSULB chamber orchestra and chamber choir, with stage direction by Byunkoo Ahn.
Appearing in “Dido” are Maria Lazarova, John Bird, Natalie Taormina and Gina Graziadio. Singing in “The Impresario” are Corinne Larsen, Donna Mashodi, James Moore, Russell Smith and Jonathan Nelson. Jonathan Talberg, director of the Chamber Singers, is producer of both operas, which will be sung in English.
