Second place in one of the most unpredictable leagues is at stake tonight.
Glendale plays Crescenta Valley at Stengel Field in Glendale in a rematch of an error-laden Pacific League game played last month.
If last week is any indication, Glendale (11-6, 5-2) might be in trouble.
The Nitros finished 12th in the Babe Herman tournament, losing to erratic El Camino Real in the 11th-place game. Crescenta Valley (12-4, 5-2) lost to Glendora in the championship game, 4-0.
But, as has been the norm in the Pacific League, nothing is a given.
Crescenta Valley had eight errors in a 5-1 loss to Glendale on March 23. Three days before that, Glendale lost to Muir, which went 0-15 in league play last season.
Glendale and Crescenta Valley trail first-place Arcadia (13-4, 6-1). Glendale plays at Arcadia on Friday.

Canyon left-hander Jake Coash has been stellar on his way to a 6-0 record and a 0.78 earned-run average, but his biggest test will come today against visiting Hart.
Coash, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound junior, will try to shut down one of the region’s most potent lineups, featuring eight players hitting .333 or better.
Hart is 18-0, 7-0 in Foothill League play.
“They figure out a way to win,” Coach Adam Schulhofer said. “If they’re behind, they always have a big inning, whether it’s the fifth, sixth or the seventh.
“They have that magic that everybody’s looking for. We’re looking forward to seeing what Jake can do.”
Coash was sharp last week, striking out 15 in a 3-2 victory over La Sierra.
Canyon (9-6-1, 4-3) lost to Hart, 8-3, on March 16.
