Dumb and Dumber

I could not agree more with L. Leach (Letters, Jan. 17). The “dumbing down” of recipes in your Food section is a bit too much. Personally, I don’t believe that the people who require that much “clarifying” read the section anyway. Also, the many, many recipes each week of the exotic cuisines of oh-so-many other cultures are a total waste of your time. I have friends of other cultures, and, believe me, they rely on recipes from their heritage that have been handed down through generations. They really don’t wait for the paper to come out to find out how to cook their traditional dishes. Viva, Marion Cummingham, Julia Child, Jaques Pe’pin! The Food section of the L.A. Times has become incredibly boring. Two pages on mandarin oranges and, today, two pages on Indian food? Who reads it, who cares?
