Concordia Women Struggle Early, Lose to Westmont

Concordia was held to nine first-half points and lost, 64-39, in a Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Tuesday at Westmont.
Former Troy High standout Katie Hardeman led a balanced Westmont attack with 10 points, three assists and two steals.
Aina Kohler led all scorers with 24 points for Concordia.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:
Point Loma Nazarene 64, Hope International 42--The host Royals shot only 19%. Jamie Harrison scored 19 points and Erin Carey added 16 for Hope International.
In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s games:
Point Loma Nazarene 68, Hope International 64--Axel Margaritha had 16 points and 15 rebounds and Randall Wilcox and Jonathan Stoa added 12 points each for the Royals.
Westmont 93, Concordia 62--Corey Blick and reserves Ryan Monroe and Chris Clark each scored 16 points as host Westmont (12-5, 5-3) ran up a 47-25 halftime lead.
Adam Friesen was the lone player for Concordia (7-11, 1-7) in double figures with 10 points.
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:
USC d. UC Irvine, 30-19, 30-25, 27-30, 30-19--UC Irvine rallied from a 24-17 deficit to win the third game, but the Anteaters couldn’t complete the comeback.
Erick Helenihi had 13 kills and four blocks and Jarett Jensen 30 assists for UC Irvine (0-5, 0-2).
All-American Brook Billings had 22 kills and Beau Rawi a school-record eight aces for host USC (3-0 in conference).
