El Modena Slips Past Santa Ana Valley

Kristin Taylor scored her third goal of the game in sudden-death overtime Tuesday, giving El Modena an 8-7 victory over Santa Ana Valley in a Century League girls’ water polo game at El Modena.
Taylor also scored in the second overtime to tie the score for the Vanguards (9-10, 1-2).
In other Century League games:
Canyon 11, Villa Park 4--Courtney Mathewson scored five goals and Sheva Khalafbeigi added three goals and six steals for Canyon (12-5, 2-1), which defeated Villa Park for the first time in school history. Villa Park is 8-11, 2-1.
No. 1 Foothill 30, Orange 3--Foothill scored 10 goals in the second quarter and led, 21-0, before giving up a goal.
Breana Allison scored six goals and Crystal Carroll added four for the host Knights (17-1, 3-0).
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 9, Western 5--Andrea Lanzisera had three goals and Alley Kane two for visiting Brea Olinda, which scored five times in the second quarter. .
Savanna 7, Valencia 2--Sharece Mathews had four goals for host Savanna (14-7, 3-1), including three in the first two minutes of the third quarter.
In a nonleague game:
Dana Hills 11, Fountain Valley 9--Torey Wolford scored four goals for host El Toro, which outscored Fountain Valley, 5-1, in the fourth quarter to overcome an 8-6 deficit.
In nonleague boys’ basketball:
Tarbut V’Torah 53, Acaciawood 47--Geoff Keith scored 15 points and Noam Dashdi had 13 points as Tarbut V’Torah (16-0) clinched a playoff berth as a freelance school.
Aaron Marks had 18 points for Acaciawood (8-5).
