Nevada’s Showing the U.S. How It’s Done

In regard to Dr. Alexa Albert’s article “Lesson in Condom Use From Women of Mustang Ranch” (May 28): Is Nevada the only state whose people are politically courageous enough to greatly reduce the incidence of HIV and other STDs, as well as the vicious abuse of women by pimps, through medically controlled, legalized prostitution? Perhaps some of the same states, such as California, that voted to legalize the medicinal use of marijuana could also let intelligence and compassion override puritanical ideology.
