Separate shootings sent two men to hospitals early Sunday morning, police said.
Vardan Garibyan, 26, of Glendale was shot several times in the abdomen about 12:30 a.m. Sunday while celebrating his birthday at a party in the 100 block of South Glenoaks Boulevard, Burbank Police Lt. Kevin Krafft said.
A man was arrested, but he was refusing to give his name and police had yet to identify him, police said.
About an hour later, a shooting that appears to be gang-related occurred near Van Nuys Airport, Los Angeles Police Sgt. John Cudworth said.
Young men in two cars exchanged words while driving on Sherman Way near De Celis Place, and shots were fired from a brown Toyota. A passenger in the other car was struck in the hip. His friends drove him to a hospital.
There have been no arrests, Cudworth said.
