The season’s largest brush fire charred 15 acres in a remote area of Upper Ojai on Wednesday afternoon, before being put out by county and federal firefighters.
The blaze started shortly before 4 p.m. off Koenigstein Road near California 150. The area is the same location where the 4,300-acre Ranch fire was sparked by fireworks in December 1999.
Firefighters from Ventura County and Los Padres National Forest, aided by hand crews and two water-dropping helicopters, doused the fire in about an hour, authorities said.
There were no reported injuries or damage.
The cause remained under investigation.
