Azusa Pacific opens the football season today at the University of San Diego.
Last season, the Cougars went 2-2, absorbing blowout losses to Southern Oregon and Western Oregon, before winning four of their final six games and earning an NAIA playoff berth.
Junior Luke Winslow, who passed for 2,512 yards last season, is Azusa’s first returning starting quarterback in more than 10 years.
San Diego went 4-6 last season and has to replace several key offensive players.
Senior wide receiver Dylan Mora and senior linebacker Bryan Baxter are among San Diego’s leading players.
