A look at the top 10 boys’ tennis teams in the Southland:
1. Irvine University (10-2-1, SS-Div. II)
Jeff Lawrence will play No. 1 singles this week in place of Easter Bowl entrants Aaron Yovan and Jack Li. (No. 1 last week)
2. Corona del Mar (14-1, SS-Div. V)
Redlands-bound Tyson Hunter is 30-7 in doubles sets with three partners. (2)
3. Troy (16-1, SS-Div. II)
Freshman Larry Wang has been strong and Warriors have won 12 consecutive matches since loss to Corona del Mar on games. (3)
4. Harvard-Westlake (11-1, SS-Div. V)
James Thayer, usually at No. 1 or No. 2 doubles, reached boys’ 18 singles finals in two recent tournaments. (4)
5. Woodbridge (10-4, SS-Div. III)
Brett Van Linge, Erik Oijala and Shimpei Suzuki lost to Chris Surapol, but the Warriors still beat Whitney, 13-5. (5).
6. Hoover (13-0, SS-Div. I)
Dylan Kim (singles) and Joseph Kim (doubles) are no relation, but give Hoover strength in both lineups. (6)
7. Westlake (11-0, SS-Div. III)
Aaron Bert (17-1), Alex Sundling (11-1) and Ben Steensland (26-1) have lost only to Thousand Oaks’ Andrew Lieu. (7)
8. Servite (11-1, SS-Div. IV)
Senior Dan Lee and freshmen Prince Claronino and Vikrum Singh have shared time at No. 3 singles. (9)
9. Los Alamitos (6-4, SS-Div. II)
After being off for eight days, the Griffins play Huntington Beach, Capistrano Valley and Esperanza this week. (8)
10. Brentwood (7-2, SS-Div. V)
Ari Rosenthal, the No. 2 singles player, is 21-6. Davey Ryan and Jordan Safan are 22-2 in doubles. (10)
