Montenegro Premier Quits Over Serbia Deal

The prime minister of Montenegro, Yugoslavia’s smaller republic, resigned amid a government crisis over a deal with Serbia to reshape the country as a loose union of two states.
Filip Vujanovic announced his resignation in a letter to parliament, blaming unsuccessful attempts to preserve a coalition government split over the independence issue.
Last month, the two remaining Yugoslav republics agreed to the deal that will restructure the federation into a loose alliance with a new name--Serbia and Montenegro. Though the deal gives Montenegro greater autonomy, it has angered some for not granting immediate independence.
