Tennis Players Receive Sportsmanship Award

Lori Stern of Carpinteria Cate High and Chris Surapol of Cerritos Whitney have been selected the girls’ and boys’ recipients of the Southern California Tennis Assn.’s Evelyn Houseman Sportsmanship Award for 2001.
The award is based on tennis rankings and on-court comportment.
Stern, who will attend Virginia in the fall, is No. 11 in Southern California and No. 59 nationally in the girls’ 18 division in current U.S. Tennis Assn. rankings. Surapol is No. 17 in Southern California and No. 104 nationally in boys’ 18s.
